getting my trans done in 3 days due to tc noise (big time i might add) but it runs great trans wise exect for the noise. so i am going for a rebuild....anyway question is i have 86 ta 5.0 tpi ram air with burnt chip exhaust i have the 9 inch rear posi with 2.77 gears what gears do you guys recondmend with out going to much?

 

I have the 9" rear and a rebuilt tranny... I use 3.70 on 25.7" inch tires. Works ok for me, but I drive really fast and my cruising speed RPM's are about 3,000-3,300. If you take it on the highway a lot I would reccomend a little bit taller gears: I would think 3.55 or 3.50 would be perfect.
