adjusting pinion backlash..

Axle/Gears: 3.07, 373, 4.10
adjusting pinion backlash..

can anybody give me a breif overview of whats involved and what tools i would need to adjust my backlash?

there is no back lash with the pinion, only installed depth and preload. back lash is checked at the ring gear. you need an indicator and base. you adjust it by rearranging the shims, but not adding to or taking away. you'd have to have pinion depth correct to check backlash
