Fluid Change on a 100K+ Tranny?
I want to upgrade my 7004r with a billiet servo, plunger, pressure valve, shift kit, etc. I have been told that changing the fluid and filter, on a tranny with a lot of miles can do more harm than good. Any ideas? Also what fluid should I use? Synthetic?

Go ahead and do it. If changing the fluid causes the tranny to "die", then it was on its last leg anyhow and its better to be broke down at the house, then on a 300 mile roadtrip.

don't know if this helps, but my car has 99k on it and I changed the ATF, and a week later the tranny died completely. After second gear, it slipped, wouldn't get 3 or 4, and then 1st went out so it was locked in second. Had to get it completely rebuilt. I'd say if you're gonna put all those upgrade parts on it just rebuild it now.....
on a side note during the rebuild i put in a stage 2 shift kit and i love it. It slams into the gears now.
hope this helps!:lala:
