4L60E or 700R4??
4L60E or 700R4??
I'm going to be putting in the 350 TPI Crate Engine from sdpc. Also, I'm getting a Borg Warner 9 Bolt Rear w/ Posi/Disc and 3.23 Gears. Now, for the trans, should I go w/ the 4L60E or the 700R4? Will the E bolt right in like the 700? Any advantages/disadvantages? I'll get either at Pro-Built. The Street/Strip ones. So far, only diff. I see is around $300...lol...also, I'm going to back it up w/ a Vigilante Torque Converter.
Thanks!

The rear will be fine, although it won't have 3.23 gears. That ratio is not available in the 9-bolt. It might have 3.27 gears though.
You can't use the 4L60E unless you use a 94-up computer and harness, that has the stuff to electronically control the transmission's shifting. Mechanically they are the same, they only differ in their control. You have to use the 700 (otherwise known in its later years, when they adopted a new naming convention, as the 4L60 without the E).

Sounds good. Yes, your right. It has the 3.27 gears. I knew the 4L60E had to be computer controlled, but wasn't sure if it was from the ECM (or PCM for those years). Well, no complaints. 700R4 will do just fine.
