Whats a good rebuild kit and high stall converter for a 700R4/4L60?

My friend has a rebuilt L98 with ported heads, SLP cam, and a few other mods right now like punched cats and catback. He wants to do a HSR next year, but his tranny is killing him right now. What is a good converter for him that will not the break the budget? Any good rebuild kits and shift kits? Any help is great....

A good shift kit would be a Transgo. People say the B&M one will just decrease the life of your tranny.

B&M are worthless in my opinion. The thing to look for in converters is the size. The smaller more the multipler the more tq will make flashing it and the less weight thus less stress put on the transmission. Which in turns leads to a longer life if it's cooled correctly.

I know I'm a broken record. Check out http://pro-built.net/ Dana knows his crap.

Link to rebuild kits on probuilt site

You will notice that comes with trans go kit even and corvette parts.

A lot of people like the Continental converters there 10" style so there 2 inches smaller than stock. 15 to 17 lbs lighter than stock. But I have to warn you there non-lockup. So he will suffer a 1-3 mpg lost at highway speeds and it might generate a little more heat due to excess slipage. There $450 bucks + shipping. I have an ACT stall I don't think probuilt sells them anymore. They're good converters it's a 9.5" diameter and is lock-up unlike the continental, yet you're gonna pay a good 100 bucks more for it.

Check the post on this board. A guy is selling a Vigilante 2800 lockup stall for a 700r4 for 500 + shipping I would jump on that. It should bring the heads and cam to life on the motor.

Ya, the Transgo is the one to get with a Ford also, B&M seem to be ok for the older trannies but not the new OD ones. That converter is a good price, I'm trying to talk my friend into getting a good one, it makes a world of difference. Thanks for the help guys..
