I have a 91 rs 305 tbi 5 speed and whenever I start off moving (redlight or whatever). its will rattle so bad it feels like my wheels are bouncing off the ground, and will do so until i fully let out the clutch and then is stops. It's been doing this for a while but seems to be getting worse within the past few months. The clutch was replaced about 8k miles ago. It gets to be pretty embarassing at every stoplight. any ideas to what's wrong??? thanx

 

Does it stop once you get faster than 20 or so? Where is the sound coming from?

 

that could be the clutch chattering or possibly a throwout bearing.......id check the trans mount first though

 

Definitely sounds like a chattering clutch. Did you resurface the flywheel when you did the clutch? How did you go about breaking the new clutch in? A glazed flywheel and a badly broken in clutch can both cause chatter.

 

it stops shakking as soon as the clutch is fully out, so it only happens when i start moving. (verrry little rattle between gears too, same problem less noticeable)

how do i check a the tranny mount? crowbar?

 

definitely sounds like clutch chatter.....

to check the mount, look at it first....then try prying it with a bar or something, if it moves its done for
