Replacing clutch, dropping axle?

Is it really nessecary to remove the coil dampeners and torque arm in order to drop the rear axle when pulling the tranny back to replace the clutch?

No, just unhook the torque arm bracket on the tranny. If you have your jackstands under the frame ahead of the rear LCA's you can then push the arm up out of the way by hand.

Agreed. There's no reason to drop the torque arm....just take it loose at the front and let it swing up against the floorpan.
