9bolt.com is now out of business-read for yourself>>>
Bad news for those of us who were planning on buying his support cover.
This is Miles response to a private message I sent him:
Along with my day job, I have 2 other businesses I'm involved in that require alot of time right now. The last 4 weeks has been devoted entirely to a new start up company I started and is making is debut at the PRI show this weekend. I have a bunch of 9 bolt parts, but I do not have the time to respond to all the emails anymore. Especially since most of them are tire kickers and ask the same questions I have posted in the FAQS section. I am trying to find a couple of existing parts businesses that can distribute the parts for me on the day to day basis as I don't have the time anymore. The minimum parts buy for a distributor is $3500 (at cost). As soon as I can close a deal with a distributor, I will post it at www.9bolt.com and direct people to that (those) sites. I need to have this in place before production quantities of the cover are sold as I don't have the time to deal with the day to day stuff. (The covers are also included in the $3500 buy in). Know anyone that wants to distribute? Since I can't post a message related to 9 bolt stuff on the boards, feel free to post the message.
Thanks
Miles
Well, there you have it guys. Once again I have been hyped up over a killer part that's supposed to become available for 3rd generation f-bodies and then let down. If it were me, I would have made a limited run of support covers to fulfill the promise to the people that committed to buying them. I guess he thought me and the other guys that emailed him a thousant times about the support cover he's said he's gonna make for the last 2 years were just "tire kickers".
Really pisses me off. If he doesn't come thru on the support cover promise, I know I won't buy a product from his new company.

you can buy 3.70's from Randy's Ring and Pinon. Heck...you can buy the gears, the install kit, and new axle bearings with seals for not much more than just a 3.73 set would run you from 9bolt.com
Used 3 series posi's go cheap on ebay fairly frequently, so just nab one of those and shim it. Larry Burd sells shims for cheap. That'll tighten up a used one to better than new.

although I havn't been active on the boards lately, I still sell 9bolt shims to tighten your existing posi unit.
as far as insturtions on how too do this. there is an article in the tech section here on this board, and your 89 service manual would be most helpful.
people must understand, I do have a real job. and only sell shims to maybe 5 people a year. there really isn't too much demand in the world for 9-bolt shims, and thus sometimes replys or shipping might be delayed.... but I do offer this as these shims are nearly impossible to find elsewhere.
indivual shim is $5 (almost any size available)
assorted shim pack of like 18 shims $60.
and yes I understand how miles feels by the email I have gotten in the past. I am not a rear end expert, I can't solve your rear end problems. I can't tell you what your noise it. I do NOT build rear ends for a living. I'm just another hobbyist that rebuilt my 9bolt posi unit from the information I found here on this board.
