Brake Question on a 9 bolt.

Kind of long so bear with me.
I just swapped rear ends with a guy. My 10 bolt for his 9 bolt.
When I got the rear the rotors, brake shoes, calipers, and the brake lines that run from the calipers to the junction hose that attaches to the hard line and bracket on the car were all removed.
He stripped it down to get it sandblasted and painted. he had new calipers and pads, said something about he replaced the calipers a while back and since he was going to trade it to me he
exchanged the used calipers for new ones and even gave me new brake pads. The problem is (I know, It's about time)The calipers are cast iron and made for you to attach a rubber hose to then I guess connect to hard line at the junction hose.
They don't look nothing like the calipers on the 10 bolt. On it hard line attached to to the calipers and ran to the junction hose.
He's not replying to e-mails or phone calls so he's no help.
The rear has the smaller rotors and cast iron calipers.
Are the 9 bolts suppose to have rubber hose attach to the caliper's then attach to hard line on the axel tubes?
Suposeably the rear came out of 87 TA.
I just need to know if I've got the wrong calipers or hard lines on this rear so I know what to go buy. The hard lines that came with it are not very old and the one on the drivers side go's down and looks like it should screw into the caliper from the side but the hole where the rubber hose would attach is on the bottom.
The hard line on the pass. side stops about 6 inches from the end of the axel and will require about a foot more hard line to make it reach the caliper.Anybody have any ideas.

I am pretty sure it uses the rubber hoses. It is already dark outside but i have a 9bolt sitting in my back yard getting ready to be bolted, but i will look tomorrow and let you know for sure.

On my 9 bolt, it's hardline straight to the drivers side, hose to the passenger side and hose at the junction. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys I've figured out part of my problem.First I figured out what the stud comming out the back of the calipers is for.The parking brake lever attaches to it which I need, I didn't get in the trade as well as the emergency brake cables. What I cant figure out is My hard lines are routed so that it appears there should be a rubber hose attached to my hard line on the pass. side to connect to the caliper, but my hard line on the drivers side ends up against the side of the caliper but the place to actually thred the lines fitting into is on the bottom of the caliper and it looks like it should take a rubber hose with a banjo type fitting on it just like the pass. side so this leads me to think I've got two pass. side
calipers. I know before I put them on the rear I compaired them and both calipers are just a like. This may sound dumb but are both calipers suppose to be alike or different? Thanks for the help guys PLEASE,keep em comming.

I went to Adavnced Auto and had them look up rear calipers for 3rd gens and the only listings they had was 1 that was for left OR rite side which is like the ones I have. and the aluminum style that have a rite side and left.So this leads me to beleave that the 10 bolts have the same cast iron caliper as the 9 bolt. But like I said the cast iron calipers are made for a rubber hose to metel line to the distribution hose that go's from the rear to the body.
With this setup the rear would have a rubber hose comming off each caliper and you guys say that only one of your calipers has a rubber hose comming off of it.So is there a caliper out there that's cast iron and is made for a hard line to screw into that the parts store doesn't have a listing for?
Please help,I'm more confused than I was before.

9 bolt cast iron calpiers are annoying for a few reasons. I wont go into detail about how they don't work, but here is what else I found out while workinig on them. Changing pads is horrible since the parking brake cable has to be removed, the carliper bolts are a tight fit on the passenger side (some have to remove the LCA), and on the driver's side you have to open up the brake line in order to move the caliper. The reason for this is that there is no rubber line from the factory. I bought the Earls braided lines and the kit came with 5 lines. 2 for the front, 1 for the frame to the axle, and 1 each for the rear claipers. In order to use both rear lines I removed the 90* block from the hard line on the driver side caliper and bent the line back around the LCA bracket. It looks like Earls figured out that it was too much work to change pads on this axle so they included an extra line to take care of it. I think that may have happened to your axle, you either need to use a rubber hose, or get the braided lines from earls. Just my 2 cents.

1989 9bolt rear pads take about 5 minutes per side.
