order a factory S10 converter from 1998. this will get you a lock-up 2200 stall for around $150ish or maybe less...plus that leaves $200 for other options.
these are the same converters as factory vette stalls just usually cheaper due to asking for an S10 part. hope this helps and this is what i'm running in both my S10
and my Z28

look up autozone, pep boys, etc....i usually don't buy parts from the "stealer" as they rip me off. I believe my friend at the trans shop got me mine for $75. plus core swap of course. But IIRC you can get them for $150 plus core from any local parts shop.

i did find that pn now that you gave the specfics, thank you. It does not say what stall it is though. im sure they will tell me on the phone tomorrow when i call to get it. thanks for the info. Also, how does it perform in your camaro? on a scale from 1-10 based on your stock converter? any track times from the swap?

2200 stall, i think i posted that before.
much better than the stock converter...needed it for the cam i'm running, so it was a big help for off the line.

Here are the stock parts #'s for a few converters, I work at Chevy dealer in parts department..so any #'s you want looked up let me know!
GM part # 24202174 List $306.00 (1990 Corvette converter)
# 24210922 List $306.00 (1998 S-10 2.2 converter)
# 24210918 List $277.37 (1998 S-10 4.3 converter)
Odd how the 4.3 converter is less than the Vette one AND the 2.2 converter??
Who knows! What is the stock converter stall speed for a Corvette??

The SLP converter has been a good converter for the money for me and my friends. We've ran them in 11 and 12 second cars reliably. Not sure if Summit still carries them, but we've bought them from them for around $250 shipped.

another option is the converter for an 85 TPI IROC/Z28. The 85s had a higher stall speed. I don't know if they stalled as high as the S10 converters or not, but I do know that they are a popular upgrade for newer cars.

I would imagine that the stock stall speed of the L98 Vette is the same as the L98 F-Body... call me crazy.
My converter is ghey. 1800rpm stall - when I specifically asked the guy who rebuilt the transmission to go with a 2200 - 2400 stall. He ignored me. Jerk.

DStroyH8.....an L98 F-body converter and an L98 CORVETTE converter are two different stalls....two different speeds, call me crazy....look it up first.

If you look in the parts book that advanced auto or autozone has they basically rate converters as low med and high stall for each converter type. As in a 700-r4 with a 28 spline input shaft (I'm not sure if thats the correct spline count) basically has 3 converters made for it. The low stall is what most l0-3's and tpi's had 1500ish stall, the medium stalls at 1800ish, don't know what they came in. The "high" stall stalls around 2000-2200 ish depending on the torque you have. The 4.3L s-10's got that as well as the mid 80's vett's. Check the part number for these two applications, they are the same. I'm runnin the high stall in my monte and it is one of the best mods I ever did.
There was some false info floating around about a 3000 stall converter that came in 4 cyl applicaions. That converter does stall at 3000 behind a v-8 but it uses a smaller input shaft so that blows unless you swap the smaller input shaft into your v-8 tranny which is a bad idea if you need a 3000 stall.
Just some stuff I picked up, hope it helps.
