rear end questions
i am planning on upgrading my rear axle with some new stuff. here is what i would like out of it.
new gears-something with a little more get up and go that will still get me some good hyw mileage
Posi-nuff said
possibly new stronger axles
this will be driven by a stock L03 but car wil(hopefully) run mid to low 13s so i want somethign that will be strong enught to handle it.
go ahead and recomend some parts for me and let me know what you guys think

I take it this is for the one in your profile...
If so, it has 2.73s in it now. 3.23 or 3.42 are usually about as far as you want to go without some motor work, because 3.73 will definitely force the motor up beyond its peak power RPM range so quickly that the trans won't be able to shift in time. You'll end up with one of those where the motor winds up as far as it will go and just hangs there because it runs out of steam, while the trans takes its sweet time figuring out what to do next.
You're probably quite a ways off of needing different axles. I'd suggest saving the $250 until such time as you actually need them, since it only takes a few minutes to swap them.
For a 13s car, the SLP posi would be entirely adequate; the stock axles; and anybody's US-made gears. I'd suggest Motive, US Gear, Superior, or Dana; or the Richmonds that are stock replacement but not the racing ones if you drive it on the street. Leave the axles alone, get the axle tubes welded up, and use a girdle type of cover.

do a search; there's at least a million threads on this board about it with everything you could possibly want to know about it.

28 spline Moser axels are a good upgrade. Depending on mileage your car is probably ready for new shafts anyway as the bearing seats are probably wasted.
Auburn, Eaton, and others all make a good posi. An ARB air locker would really be the hot ticket but they are about twice the price of a posi. I'm running a Lock Right, but it is a bit much for daily driving.
Yukon Gears from Randy's Ring & Pinion are great, as are most others. Buy US made and you'll be happy.
Stud the caps and use a TA gridle. It's about the only way to give the 7.625" gearset a prayer.
Replace all the bearings and seals. Make sure the backlash and pattern are dead on. If you don't feel that you can handle this haev it professionally done. Look for a 4x4 shop, because they do gear swaps all the time, and their prices tend to be cheaper.
This is the rear I run, and so far not a lick of difficulty.
