Tips on rebuilding the 700R4

I bought the SuperPro rebuild kit from TCI and have begun to dig into the tranny, i found out that im missing 3 check *****!! Any way Im sure the clutches in there are fried to hell but its all being replaced right? If anyone has ever rebuilt one of these things please give me some pointers or anything that will make this go much smoother. you can right me here or even pm me or email me. Thanks for any help.

Just did one two weeks ago. Pretty straight forward project. If you take the pump apart, be sure to use a giant band clamp to line up the 2 halves before you tighten the bolts...otherwise it wont go back into the case.

And when reassembling, put the check ***** in the valve body with a blob of transjel to hold them in place.

Be sure to check and double check the planatary gear set as they are notorious for doing out in the 700R4. Also dont forget to check endplay.

If I think of more I'll let you know.

I doubt that you are missing check *****. Most likely the trans has a shift kit and some of the ***** were removed as part of the installation. This is common.

Another possibility is that the location and number of ***** changed from year to year. If you are looking at a universal diagram it may not be applicable to your year trans.
