TH350 vs TH400

I am trying to decide between a TH350 and TH400 trans. I have heard that 400's absorb more power. With the technology available I would think that the internal components are equally as strong in both. I have pretty much decided on a unit built by HUGHES. I am also planning on buying the competition model w/ upgraded sprag and drum.

Probably get away with running the TH350, less weight, less power loss. If you want something that you don't have to worry about, the TH400 would be your best bet. Mikes Transmission builds some awesome transmissions and I've heard Hughes are pretty good too. How much power are you going to be running through it?

planning on 500 at the tires or more. Stock 350 w/ procharger destroyed the TH700 very quickly. Now I have a 383 w/ most everything on the engine upgraded.

don't want to spend the time converting to 6spd. Also not really streat legal any more so just want to set it up for drag racing right now. Eventually I will road race it w/ a gear vendors OD

normally for roadracing you want a stick....

my buddy used to have a TH400 behind his 406, it ended up balloning the stall converter. then he put in a TH350 and it has done really well behind a 400 rwhp car. we could not tell a difference in power between the two trannies, but no track times really.
