I'm looking to swap out my 700r4 for a manual. I was thinking of sticking with a t5 setup but wasn't sure. What can anyone offer me in the form of advice. Where should i pick one up or should i look into another tran? I'm looking to spend no more than 700 on the set, i've got a friend who will be doing most of the labor.

 

the cheapest would be find everything at a junkyard.

since u have a 305 tbi then a regular v8 t-5 setup would be fine.

Is there any danger in replacing the tran? You always here the idea that if it isn't broken don't fix it, should i stay around with messing with the tran for fear that it'll just lead to more problems?

 

all depends on if its installed correctly and use parts that arent beat...if you do a hackjob w/ an abused tranny..yeah, its gonna be a headache..use a t5 thats in good shape and make it look factory and youll enjoy rowing throught the gears all day.
