What kind of transmission can i get?

I am sort of in a bind here i need to get a trannie or a rebiuld for about a 1000 bucks. The only problem is no shops in my area can rebiuld the trannie for no less than 1500 bucks so I was wondering where I can find a trannie for under a grand until i get enough money to get a good one. i just need one right now to get around.

Grab a copy of Chevy High Performance, Car Craft, & Super Chevy and start making calls. There are places that advertise complete 700R4s for $990 with a converter and no core charge.

$1500 is rediculous. Around here they get about $750-$800. If you live near DE I know a guy that can do them way cheaper than that too.

Too bad you don't live around me, I got one laying around I'd let you have for $200 w/ the ocnvertor. If you're looking for one just to get by then look in the classifieds section on here as well as your local trader paper, you can usually find them pretty cheap.

Pull the dipstick and inspect the fluid before you buy it. If it smells burnt, or there's a lot of grayish stuff on the end the trans is spent.

Try to get them to give you a warranty. Most places will do this with major components like engines and transmissions.
