Typically every 30,000 miles is a good interval. That's how often we change the fluid in our fleet vehicles, and the transmissions routinely go 200,000 miles (except the Dodges, but that's another story!).
I would just use normal ATF DExtron III. Don't use any of those trans addative or stop leak products. These cause the seals to swell and can make the trans leak, or worse yet fail. If everything is working fine now just stay on top of the fluid and filter changes and it should provide you plenty of trouble free miles for years to come.
