need help identifying rear end / gears
I have an 89 Trans_AM, pretty sure it doesn't have the original rear end.
Has the limited slip tag, wheels spin in same direction when you turn them.
Meausred several times, both rotating drive shaft and wheel, It measures out to 3 3/4 .. (my guess 3.73's) The track bar is mounted up properly (i guess rear end may be out of early 3rd gen?) I do about 2200rpm at 100km/h calc page supports 3.73 theory. and its a 10bolt cover which looks almost round with a little oval to it.
The ID #'s aren't where they are supposed to be. and i scrubbed em good. On bottom of pumpkin there are some #'s
>edit< Chiltons says #'s are on pass side, facing front.. though i check both sides, front & back.
GM N
22522676 (6's look like 6's may be 8's.. pretty sure their 6's)
K 1 2 then to the right of the k12 is a # which i can't read
I think it is C-----8
and it's drum brakes..
Anyone?
Thanks

count the bolts on the cover will tell you have rear it is. pull the cover and find the ratio stamped on the gears or count teeth and do the math. spinning this and that doesn't mean much. pull the cover it's the only 100% accurate way to know what you have.
