converter lock up question

Car: 1986 Trans Am
Engine: built 305
Transmission: 700r-4 shift kit
converter lock up question
i just switched to a non cc carb and everyone keeps saying i need to lock the converter somehow. i was just wondering if i would be ok driving around with it just unlocked all the time and if i have to lock it what would you guys recommend.any help would be appriciated.

Depending on your gears, the converter might be slipping so much all the time, that it will heat the fluid up and burn the trans up much more quickly than if the clutch was working.
All you need is a switch to send 12V to the lockup solenoid. There's a couple of kits you can buy that have a suitable switch, wiring, etc., and locate the switch conveniently. They're not too much $$$, cheaper than a trans anyway.
