Gears, Gears, and more Gears?
Alright i have been reading posts on gears and have found a lot of information but nothing that has answered my question.
Here's the specs on my car:
92 RS
305 tbi
Auto
Pretty much stock except for: MSD Ignition & Wires, K&N Airfilter, and soon-Catback Exhaust.
This car is a daily driver on the highway with weekend trips to the drag strip.
What gears should i go to in the rear?
I was thinking 3.42 or 3.73's.
I talked to a guy that is like just go 4.10's but i think that maybe a little drastic for my use.
I would like to liven her up a little and also put in posi.
Thx,
Chris

You can't go wrong with a 3.42. Great for all around and highway use. If down the road you plan on a little higher reving combo a set of 3.73's will be nice. Like ede said, it really depends on what you want to do with the car.

Given your current combo I would say go with 3.42s or 3.73s. The 3.73s will give you more punch, but the highway RPM will be higher, even with overdrive.
A higher stall converter would work really well with either of these ratios. Something in the 2,400 range with either combo could easily shave a second off your ET depending on what your current gear ratio is.
