Rear end girdle necessary

Am waiting for a girdle for my 9 bolt on my 8,000 mile '89 GTA which is about to get a ATI PROCHARGER, feel that in this case it is necessary or at least prudent in case I somehow harness all that torque with street tires, yeah right, I know.

Here is the question, also have a '87 TA with 38,000 , was planning on eventually building an engine for it so I put in 3.73 gears and a girdle and bought a stall for the tranny, corvette servo, increased tranny line pressure ...etc....Now the GTA has priority...so the TA '87 is stuck with its 305, if I was to put a 150 shot of juice would I even be stressing the stock rearend even without the girdle ? Is the girdle necessary for this application, I mean I already have it but.......

also have a '95 S10 4.3 pushing 250 flywheel hp that the girdle would fit on.....you think either the '87 or the S10 needs a girdle ? Thx and sorry for the length..... Bill E.

It certainly won't hurt anything.

I think these cars should have a girdle from the factory considering how fragile the stock rears are.

BTW, I don't think the 9 bolt girdle is available yet.

TA Performance has a nine bolt in their hands and about 75 of us are waiting for them to make a girdle for our nine bolts........but back to the above question on the ten bolt.........

Does the '87 TA on juice need this girdle ?

How about the s-10..it will never see slicks, it does have 255/60's on it with posi....thx for any input.

From past experience, I am a firm believer that they work. I stopped shotgunning 10 bolts after installing one.
I just got one from TA Creations for my Dana 44. Hopefully it will clear my sway bar. I will find out this weekend.
Dave at TA said the 9 bolt cover is the pattern stage.
