Erratic Shifting in 700R4 -Searched
My replacement 700R4 which is supposedly 88 MY or later with unknown miles ended up shifting late and soft. TV Cable was adjusted and fluid and filter changed. I have a B&M megashifter in the camaro, so I just manually shifted the car since I was afraid it would burn up the clutch packs if left to do it automatically. As of today, the transmission is slipping and not shifting properly when I use the shifter. To get second it'll hit 3K rpm and shifts HARD. Third requires the same shift point and requires me to get off the throttle before it'll find the gear. Fourth gear is erratic as well. I plan on having the tranny pressure flushed. There are no leaks as far as I can tell and it has the correct amount of fluid. Any thoughts on whats causing this?? Thanks in advance

Tv cable is most likely the issue, small possiblity its the governor. First readjust detent cable, there are two good ways, if no helper, depress cable unlock at throttle bracket with left thumb or screw driver, with right hand pull cable housing away(towards firewall) from bracket until it gets tight, then relese lock button. Get in car and slowly depress accelerator to floor ( move floor mat), cable will automatically adjust. Test drive car if shift points are still poor, remove governor tin cover, left side of trans, use screwdriver & hammer, similar to dust cover on a brake rotor, now pull governor out of trans, inspect plastic gear for damage, check weights to make sure they are not frozen or binding. If these don't help seek professional help. Also if these don't fix it, disconnect tv cable at throttle and pull cable, check to see that there is spring tension on it, if no spring tension, it most likely isn't connected at trans, or cable broke.
