need tranny rebuild...couple quick questions....
My 700R4 needs to be rebuilt and I had a couple questions for those who have already had it done. The car is a "mild" TPI with the 700R4 with 91K on both. I have had some quotes on rebuilds in the neighborhood of $700 for new sprags, servo, rebuilt pump, and a rebuilt converter. Is that reasonable? Anything I should know beforehand? Should I go with a certain kind of sprags for better performance? maybe a Vette servo?? or should I put a 4L60E in it??? Just tryin to get some ideas before I get this done......by the way the car is a 91Z28.....Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

$700 rebuilt with a converter is a good price. It'll be tough to find one cheaper than that I would think, unless you know a guy that rebuilds them on the side, but then you will typically need to buy a converter too, so the savings won't necessarily be dramatic.
Screw the 4L60E. It isn't any tougher than your 700R4 and requires a computer to operate. I wouldn't bother.
A good shift kit and Vette servo will make a nice performance improvement. You really need to educate yourself on transmissions before you start thinking about other specific internal parts. There's a lot of stuff in there, and to be able to talk the lingo with the trans shop guys you need to know what it all does.
I agree that talking to Pro-Built isn't a bad idea. He's the man for 700R4s.
