Difference between disk and drum brake axles?

im looking for a set of axles for my 87 IROC w/ a 10 bolt and my dad said he found out that the disk brake and drum brake axles have different part #'s. does any1 who what the difference is? my car has drums on it now,but i have a disk brake rear (a complete 1 from an 86 IROC) that i was wanting to put in it.

Dude, dont wait, put that bad boy in it will bolt right up, probably the difference in #s is the rotor/drum differences. good luck. By the way, a rear end from 82 to 02 camaro/ ta will interchange, just minor parking brake cable work is involved.

you're telling me that all 3rd and 4th gen rear ends are completely interchangable? If thats true...do the 4th gens use a 10bolt or 12?
