T56 swap question

Will a flywheel out of a 97 z-28 work with a one piece rear main seal 350? I though i read that these were externally balanced? Can i have the flywheel rebalanced? What would be the easiest and cheapest flywheel solution?

The '97 LT1 flywheel will work on a 1-piece rear main 350 fine. They aren't externally balanced. Whoever told you this didn't know what they were talking about. It's a total bolt on deal.

externally ballanced in the machinist world and what is considered externally balanced in the SBC world are diffrent.

in the SBC world, the 400 is the only production extrnally balanced motor. it uses a external weight on the dampener, and one on the flexplate.

the 2 piece rear main motors have a neutral balanced dampener and neutral flexplate

the one piece rear main motors have a neutral dampener, but the one piece rear main flexplate has a lil weight on it.
but this weight is the same for all one piece rear main motors.... so from most peoples point of view, it is a "internal" balance motor because you dont need a "special" flexplate like you do with the 400 and some other stroker motors..

Ah i see thanks for showing me the light i though that all smallblocks cept for the 400 were internally balanced. So a 95 lt1 flywheel will work for my t56 swap to a 92 block? Right.
