T-5 swap

Will my stock 200c tranny's driveshaft fit when I switch over to a t-5?

Can I use my stock cross member?

My car is an 82, and I know they came with T-10's, but will a T-5 go in easily with factory componets?

It's basically "no" to all. The TH200C was shorter than later TH700's & T5. The later driveshaft, torque arm, and crossmember are all shorter.

You're also missing two bolt holes in the frame members for the crossmember mount. But, that's a simple match-drill & nut/washer job.

The driveshaft will be too long for the T5. Just use a later model driveshaft from a car with a 700R4 or T5.

You can definitely use all factory components. What you really need is a complete swap package from a T5 car. Get the trans, bell, pre '86 flywheel, clutch, crossmember, hydraulics, and pedals. It will all bolt in. The only modificatiosn will be a hole in the floor and three small ones in the firewall.

Ok. I just got back from the wreckers and they got a few 86-89 trans ams all with 700R4's. I can get the drive shaft and the torque arm for 50 bucks. Will the 700R4 shaft and arm work on my 82 with the t-5? (I don't want to buy them and find out they won't work, then be out $50)

thanks

make sure you have the t5 torque arm mount tho, the 700r4 one wont work on the t5.
