700R4 OD weird
The Overdrive in my 700R4 goes out after driving long distances. It seems to work fine everyday on the way to and from school, but when I was going home from Houston to Austin....about half way there overdrive went out. I pulled over, put it in park, and turned the car off. Turned it back on and it worked fine until I got home. Now OD doesn't work at all...it's cold thought. Would that have an affect on it? I had it rebuilt with a shift kit and 'Vette servo back in May. It's got the same stock torque converter.

Over drive is 4th gear. What do you mean it "goes out"? Is it slipping, or do you find that you get stuck in third? What exactly is happening?

What I mean is that sometimes it doesn't shift into 4th gear. It cruises at 70 at around 2800 RPM! When it does this, I notice that it shifts soft into other gears...like it did before the shift kit.
Well, I noticed that it seems to do it more often going around turns. I also noticed that my tranny lines that go to the radiator were 'repaired' by a local mechanic and he used rubber for part of it. And I did notice that they rub on the steering linkage, and when I turn the wheel to the left, fluid leaks out of a pin sized hole. Could this hole be sucking air into the tranny lines when I turn and cavitate in the tranny? Causing it to not shift into 4th? When it does it, I pull over, put it in park and turn the car off...then restart it and go on, and it seems to work fine.
