Opinions on T-5 short throw shifters, please

I have a 1988 Camaro T-5 trans I am putting in my hotrod. I need to extend the handle, so I was thinking of putting a short throw shifter in before I extend it, so I won't have an extremely long throw when I extend the shaft. What I need is the shortest, smoothest shifter. It won't be raced, so drag strip performance is not important, just length of throw. Does anyone have an opinion on which one I should use?
Thanks

I say get the hurst, it has a detachable handle and has awsome throws. If you wait like ten minutes ShiftyCapone will tell you about the pro 5.0, he says it's awsome too.

Ha good call. You really cannot go wrong with either the hurst or Pro 5.0. Both have removable handles which will allow you to bolt a longer or shorter one up. The Pro 5.0 is a bit more rugged but probably not as smooth as the Hurst. It is very precise, does not move at all and makes great metal "clinking" sounds when shifted. It is pretty hardcore so that you never miss a shift and or break it with he-man like throws. I have heard to many mixed reviews over the B&M and I am not sure if it has a removable handle anymore.

Thanks. Is either one a shorter throw than the other? I understand and appreciate your points about the ruggedness but this particular rod will just be a cruiser and shortness of throw and ease of shifting is number one priority. By the way, where can I get the best buy on them?
Thanks again.

They are all pretty close but I think the Pro 5.0 is shorter. That is their claim to fame to be shorter than the competition. From nuetral to any gear is literally about 1.5" or less of travel. Check out the site sponcer up top for a good price. Most places sell them for the same price. You don't see prices vary much unless they are on sale.

i bought a used b&m for a steal, so if you can get one, its sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better then stock. its tight in every gear and the throws are significantly shorter. but i cant compare it to a hurst or pro 5.0 besides the fact my buddy has a pro 5.0 in his 99 z and it does sound bad ***

Well i bought the Hurst Billet Plus a little while ago and LOVE it! Its SO much better than stock, and its a reputable name as well. The Pro 5.0 is also good, but i just didnt want to put a mustang shifter in my camaro, just my opinion
