Counting Teeth....HELP Reading gears?
Ok I am looking to buy a posi unit and gear fromt his guy.
But, I want to be sure they are what he says. How do you read them and can you tell by the # of teeth?
The posi unit reads 37-10
the tooth count is 37-9

they are 4.11s
im not sure what the 37-10 on the carrier is for though. the 37-9 means that there is 37 teeth on the ring gear and 9 on the pinion. 37 divided by 9 equals 4.1111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111 so on and so forth
