want 3.42 gears

I've seen some 3.42 ring and pinion sets on ebay lately. I've also seen 3 series carriers from 4th gens. I was wondering if I could get the gears and just swap the carrier. Would it be worth it money wise, I would have someone else install it.

Or would it be cheaper in the long run to just get Richmond gears for $200?

You can get a perfectly set of used GM gears for much less than 200. Richmonds gears are stronger but they tend to whine. The GM gears are quiet and you will most likely break something else in the rear before the gears go. Check out the classifieds on www.camaroz28.com. They are always forsale on there.
