Question To All Running Ford 9" or 12 Bolt

In a year or so I want to buy a Currie 9 inch or a 12 bolt from Moser for my T/A. I have read on this board a lot of people have had a mistery vibration from using a tranny mount that is the wrong size. (pinion angle) Since the ford 9 inch has a pinion gear that is lower on the ring gear, will this be a problem? Are there extra parts that need to be purchased to make the combo work (hidden charges )? I am planning on using the Jeg's adjustable Torque Arm.

Whats the deal? What issues, as far as pinion angle, are involved if any?

At this time I am leaning toward the 9 inch for ultimate durability, the "para-whatever" loss is going to be so minimal in my application that it is not a factor.

The car is going to be used for Test/Tune fun at the strip (no real competition) with NO2 and slicks, and Fri/Sat night cruizing.

I do not have all the answers, but I can tell ya what I have experienced.

I put in a Moser 9" two years ago. Two days later I blew the tranny and had it rebuilt by a custom (which ripped me off - died a year later behind a mild motor). Anyway, after I got that done, I had vibration problem at anything over 80-85. I was looking into solving the problem when other things kept getting in the way: engine swap, more tranny work, etc. Well, now I am having my 9" rebuilt this weekend because the pinion seal failed and fried the bearings.

Sum up: I had the entire rear suspension done and the tranny rebuilt before I noticed the vibration. I have heard the virbration cna come form a misaligned crossmember, or pinion angle. I am leaning towards pinion angle, because I have replaced the tranny twice since then. When I get the rear rebuilt this time and I still have the vibration, I will then see what I can do about diagnosing the actual cause of the problem. But right now I am dealing with massive gear grinding (graduated form massive whinning) and can't tell if it is still vibrating or not.

Keep me posted.

I'd like to know how it turns out. I am pretty sure that there can be some angle at the tranny end of the drive shaft but not at the differential end? I don't know. If my knowledge on this subject was compaired to money, I'd be in the red.
