Rear end options
Whats up all,
I have a powertrax locker in a 26 spline axle'd 3.42 10 bolt rear
This combinations sucks. The power trax was cool for awhile but now its driving me crazy.
Ive broken two axleshafts, and now, the rear end popping and shuddering has gotten much worse. While driving it will now pop open and closed on its own without any turning whatsoever. This makes the car real fun to drive since it will pick at random which side to lurch to.
Im at the point where I need a new rear, something that im not going to break, something thats gonna give me traction but not be horrible to live with, and, cheap.
I was looking at my options and nothing is cheap. I think the cheapest and the strongest would be a rear out of a 4th gen with a 3.42 posi with the 30 spline axles, but then id need new wheels or id have to live with the rear wheels sticking out
basically Id ideally have something with 3.73 or 4.10 gears, a strong posi , and axles that wont break, what would be my cheapest options?
hate asking broad questions like that but i never paid much attention to rear ends before I started having problems(on cars anyway hehe)
Im at the point where I am afraid to dump the clutch because Im pretty sure something is going to blow.

think 4th gens are 28 spline. think i'd go with aftermarket 28 spline axles, slp posi, gears of your choice. girddle rear cover with braces and weld the tubes to the center section. that's still going ot be pretty expensive.
