Transmission: 700 r4
loose connetor

What is the purpose of the connector that is down near the tail shaft of the the transmission on my son's 89 camaro rs. His 92 camaro has a place where the two prong connects up to. I think maybe the transmission was changed because 2 tranny mount bolts were missing. I'm sure his lockup works.

Most likely for the VSS, vehicle speed sensor. Earlier cars had a cable driven speedometer.
