race built 700r4

i got a race built transmission from a guy off ebay. its supposed to hold 675 hp. i got it with a 2000 stall converter. well after a couple days of driving it conservitly i tried manualy shifting it to take the motor up more into the power band instead of stifting at 4500 i shifted it at 6000 like i used to with my old th 350. lemme tell you that first gear is out of hand. but anyway i go to shift into second after hold it to 6000 in first and as soon as i click up two second i hear the tires chirp and a really loud bang. then the engine acts as if its in neutrual. so i pulled over and checked if any of the gears worked. only reverse worked. so i had to get towed home. i drained the fluild and metal was everywhere. so now i have the th 350 back in and i was wonding if anyone have every had this problem also. any ideas what let loose? thanks

it has a 1 year warrenty. i called him and he said hes replece it as soon as he got the old one back. i got it from transrus. im really starting to think it was a junk yard rebuild with shift kit and not what he listed in the auction.

this reason why that happen it's because your tranny blow up, in a matter of speech, you rev up so high an switch gear, from first to second, in second gear the band applies an the drum stops spinning an is connectted to the reaction sun shell, which it has teeth an connects to the sun gear, the teet of the shell is the ones that break, which is one of the weakes part of the 700r4 an the 4l60e, which in gear an bans they are the same. hope this explains some.

proryder2, if it was build right, it shouldn't brake, if they claim it's a race tranny, they should raplace the shell with the heavy duty one, should have etheir blue or red cluches, with a after market servos, an heavier spring on the accumulator, heavier spring on the pump for higher psi an heavier springs on the valleys, if it was done right it should not brake, an if this guy tell you it's warrenty ask him to send you another tranny, an a writing statement or specifications of what he has done to the tranny an what he replaced to make as what he calls "performance tranny" hope i'm not stepping on nobodies toes with this. let us know the out come an if you can when you get the spec poste it so we can see it.

hmmm interesting. did you have that specific torque converter?

also is this guy dealing these on ebay? does he have a website?
i will have my T56 installed in about a week depending on New England weather...when my motor build is finished i will be puttin 750RWHP at the least and if i get sick of a 6 speed (which im sure i prob will not) and i want consistant times, or get serios in drag racing then i want an overdrive tranny that will handle my power, preferably a 700R4. i didnt know anyone can build them to those specs till now.

sorry my post isnt much of help but id appreciate your help.

proryder2, if that is true, the tranny should not brake or have hick up, it should handle anything you trow at it, the next one you get, inspect it before you put it in the car, an ask them for a shet stating everything the tranny has been done.
