Need help with torque convertor help...ASAP!
alright I have a 700r4 tranny and I had a cam installed here are the specs of the cam.....Crane cam 272* cam with .454" lift on both sides, and the powerband is 1800-5500....the engine will never see more than 320hp...would this TC be a good choice......
" Street Raptor " Fits 700R4 transmissions (1982-1993). This heavy duty balanced converter has furnace brazed fins and added strength. If you have a problem with your fins coming loose this is the way to go. This converter stalls at 2200 to 2500 RPM and gives a faster launch than a stock converter. Also comes in 1700 and 2000 stall speeds. Rated up to 350 horse power. Cost $165.00
I need to know ASAP cause I need to order one now...

If the cam starts coming on at 1800 (with properly set up engine, headers, exhaust, intake etc. ), I'd go for the 1700 to 2000 stall speed provided I had a 3:23 or numericaly higher geared rear end.
If I had a 2:73 gear in the rear end, I would choose the 2200 to 2500.
These are my choices with my type of driving (weekends only,... its a toy), you will have to figure out how you will be driving the car and go from there. If its going to be a daily driver I would go for the 1700 to 2000 no matter what gear the car had.

opps I forgot the car has long tube headers, full true dual exhaust and intake which its carbed..the car has 3.42 gears in it as well...so I should go with the less stall....this will be in my daily driver as well...

If it was my car for daily driving I would go with the lesser stall. Like 500rpm over stock. "Saturday Night Special" is what they called them when I was in high school, don't know if that is still the current lingo.
