9 Bolt posi with 3.27

Hi everyone, I am going to buy a 9 bolt posi with 3.27 gears for $150. It has about 100,000 miles on it and it came out of an 89 formula with a 350 TPI. I was just wondering if this a good deal?

Any input is appreciated,
Tony

Not bad, better if it has disc.even better of they are the aluminum caliper type.Just make sure the posi & the axles are in good shape.

Yea the axles are in good shape, I did a hub runout test on both sides and they were about .001 from being perfectly fine. It was mostly from just rust that I couldn't get off with the metal brush too. Posi is in good shape also. It does have disc also! Thanks for the info

both wheels the same way doesnt necesarily imply its still good. IIRC, if the torque is less then 35 ft-lbs to rotate one of the wheels with the other locked and the trans in park, the posi is dead. Id be willing to bet with a 100k on the clock its about time for new axle bearings and a new set of clutch cones anyway. There is some more info on the 9-bolt at diffsolutions.com

I just drove 4 hours to pickup a 9 bolt just like this one and we had agreed on 150 bucks but the guy let me have it for 100. I still say 150 is a good deal considering how much junk yards would charge you if they even have one.

100-150 is a great price for one of the ones with a higher series carrier. I paid 250 here in hell for one with a low series carier + 28 spline axles, complete pbr brakes, lines, + 'FY' master cyl (forgot to take the master cyl like an idiot, though).
