700R4 whines above 3000 rpms??
I only noticed this recently- its most prominent when the car is cold (in the mornings usually, however it also happens if its been sitting for a long time mid-day). Shifting from Park into Reverse usually is accompanied by an almost bad-power-steering-motor-like whine, just more raspy then anything else (no "tone" to it...just a raspy sound). Also, in first and second gear (and third, although I haven't had it up this high too many times) at around 3000 rpms it makes the same kind of whine. However it doesn't make this whine when shifting from Park to Drive (under the same conditions). It sounds like it is coming from the front of the trans....TC perhaps? HELP!

Do check the level and condition of fluid of course...but it sounds like the front pump is failing.
