Ring and Pinion Intall

My mechanic quoted me $800 in LABOR for replacing my ring and pinion. He said to do it right it would take him all day. Is this right? That seems like an awful lot...

That's freakin ridiculous. $250 to $300 is the norm. Take it to a shop that specialises in rear ends.

2-3 hours labor would be normal rate. does his price include parts? might not be so far off if it includes gears, install kit, and rear cover.

No, that was just the labor. I was going to buy a kit from Thunder Racing.

Yeah, there was no way I was going to pay $800 for that. It seemed rediculous.
