Bad trans mount
I replaced the trans mount in Oct 03 and a month ago I began to hear a knock everytime I accelerated quickly or shifted the trans sharply. I had the car on the lift a few times and could not see anything amiss. The mount bolt was tight and everything was clean and dry too. I suspected the exhaust system moving and making contact because it was a custom but unorthodox set up under there.
But when my trans failed catostrophically the other day, (it went from driving fine to severe vibration and ultimate failure all in less than 12 hours) I pulled it yesterday and heres what happened. The rubber of the mount was completely seperated from the crossmember attaching stud!
I wonder if since it was a defective mount I can get compensated for the replacement of the trans. See pic
(pic of mount coming soon.

The mount I put in Oct. 03 was some parts store brand it looked just like the one I took out too, It kills me to think that if I left the old one in this probalbly wouldnt have happened because I just did it for preventive maintenance.
But yesterday I bought a whole 89 GTA for $1000. so I put that trans into my car and I bought a Energy Suspension mount for $35. Another bonus was the 89 had a aluminum drive shaft so thats going in too.
I will fix up the 89 later and use it for a beater, because the interior and paint is trashed but the engine, trans(removed now) rear, rims and tires, flow-master Ex. system is all excellent.
