Manual Transmission Fluid
Does anyone know what exact type of fluid the manual tranny in my 1987 2.8 takes? and how much?

It takes regular ATF 3, If you put gear oil in it, the gears will be hard to engage and the trans will wear out quicker. Open the fill plug and fill until fluid comes out. I think it's about 2.5-3.0 qt. But thats not 100%

Ive also used gear oil in my "2nd gen wcT5" with no problems.
As of now I'm using syncromesh and cold shifts are a tad easyer.
I'd reccomend all T5's that require ATF to be switched over to full synthetic GM Syncromesh, its a much better fluid then any ATF, service intervals will be decreased and transmission life will increase.........usually.....................
