I have a 700r in an 88 camaro and it was running fine until this pretty much came out of the blue, suddenly when i accelerate its like the car sticks in 1st until about 4 grand and then it gives me a real lazy shift into second, this is at part throttle, at full throttle it wont shift at all, it just goes straight into the red. It does this in both drive and overdrive, the only difference being that in overdrive it does feel like it is coasting with no throttle like it is supposed to. Also, I have no reverse whatsoever, that just dissapeared. The only sounds I notice is that when it is in drive and im moving very slowly i hear a quiet vrooom sound almost like something is trying to catch or something, I don't know, but like i said this came out of nowhere and Im not sure what it is, any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

 

check the fluid in the transmission when you go out next time and see if it smells burnt at all that will tell you right away if its toasted or not

 

To simplify... would it be possible to lose reverse simply from a stuck valve or something minor? or does something pretty major have to go wrong in order for that to happen??? thanks.

 

My trans does something simular but i have reverse mine acts like it doesnt want to shift into drive or overdrive when you give it any throttle at all it acts like its wont grab then very slowly the rpms drop and it finally goes into gear also doesnt feel like it pulls very hard at WOT I think its time for a rebuild with a shift kit and my corvette servos and .500 boost valves so i can really feel it shift
