Well on my way home from work yesterday i seen this truck for sale so i bought it and picked it up today. Its a 99 1500 with a 5.3 has 120k on it and runs strong. The frame is shot on the truck so i got it cheap.
I am going to pull the motor and junk the truck so what all should i pull from it before i junk it?
Sweet!! A LM7! I would do a bunch of research and reading. Lube everything now so when you go to take stuff apart it comes apart. Is that a iron block or aluminum? I am planning to do a LM7 next year i hope. If you shop around you will have a very nice/reliable engine that has some good hp numbers!!
Its a iron block. The frame is so rust i can probably hit it with a hammer and have the front sub frame haha. it is rusted completely trough where the frame swoops up at the engine compartment
You'll want the ECM of course; in that huge black box behind the left headlight. All the accessories (alt, AC, PS, etc.); transmission; MAF; coolant bottle. All the wiring under the hood that relates to the engine. (not the lights and such necessarily) Not sure if any of the exhaust fits our cars, but get it just in case any of it is useful.

Sounds good. i do have one more problem. the truck is 4x4 so trans wont work for me.
Id try to part out as much as a guy could on the truck. Maybe before you tear into it, get some video of it running. If you dare to drive, get vid of that too and the tran shifting. Just helps when/if you choose to go that route for selling.
Ls6 cam, fast intake, bigger injectors, and that is going to hull ****!
I bet you will see cross hatch in the cylinder walls still!!
Using as much as possible off of the donor vehicle is a good plan. I'd suggest keeping it around until you have the car running. You can sell off body and interior stuff, just hang on to running gear (except tranny, as noted - you may be able to trade it for what you need). The wiring can be made a lot easier by using the donor chassis-side stuff. The fuse/relay box is especially valuable, because you can splice things like starter and fuel pump into the car through it. Ditto for gauges.
You will have to get some PCM reprogramming done for things like VATS. Just doesn't play well with 3rd gen VATS (at least, I've never heard of anyone getting it to work). There are other details, like gear ratio, tire size, tach output, etc., that will need to be adjusted to get everything operating correctly.
If get it running and driving on the factory computer and then go mega squirt if I still wanted to. Just to male sure it all works as factory. Heck with 99 that means you've got an odb2 system and can buy cheap tuners to play with the factory tune and still have everything else work.
Money lol, only useful to you if you swap the abs and all the needed components. But I'm not sure you'd be able to mount the trigger rings and everything on a car. So kinds useless to you.
