ZF tricky
Be careful with ZF's... They use a bolt on yoke instead of a slip yoke like the T56. There is only a couple of inches of spline to work with on them. This works fine in a Vette because they have independent rear ends but with a live axle like ours it will be very tricky to make this work safely. Besides the ZF is rated to handle the exact same torque( 450 lbs' ) as 94 and newer T56's are and they make WAY more gear noise and don't shift as smoothly either. "Stick" with the T56 you will be glad you did

Yeah sort of. I bought a ZF first from a local tranny shop and after having all sorts of "educational" grief trying to install it luckily I know the owner pretty well so he found me a T56 and I used that instead. One other thing I forget to mention is the location of the shifter is offset quite a bit on the ZF which makes swapping it even harder. I have since driven vettes with them and it is way noisier than the t56 and does not shift as smooth either. The t56 is one sweet piece other than the dang clutches costing so much and wearing out so fast... but that could be just me and my right foot
It will be a street twin next time round.
