Should i rebuild?

i have an 86 z-28 with a t-5 5 speed manual tranny.
the breaings are shot in the tranny and it need a rebuild. the tranny shops want 700- 1000 to rebuild the tranny.

but ive seen that they sell the rebuild kits and that i can do it.
im very capable of such a thing, hell i build my newest engine on my own.
can anyone give me any words of advice or would you all talk me out of doing this on my own? would i need any special tools? i have a complete mechanics chest from a service garage ( my grandpa used to have a shop untill he passed away).

and is it just like my engine? if i take it apart, and put it back together the way i took it apart will it work? or are there little tricks of the trade? help me out please thanks

go to www.hanlonmotorsports.com and get the video and watch it twice then watch it as you take it appart and put it back together. there video is awsome. you need a 3/16 rolepin punch and a set of snapring pliars and a set of lock ring pliars. They were very helpfull with all my questions. it really wasn't hard at all just a bunch of small parts and a few places a press is handy but you can bring it to a machine shop at that point or just tap the new parts on like I did. only thing i wouldn't recomend is replacing the tail shaft bushing unless yours is tore up bad honeing in the new one is a PITA.
