Posi or Rear swap?
I have a 2.73 non posi rear and i REALLY need a posi in, what would be easier? Buy a posi unit and gears and install that or just find a new used rear end with what i want in it? What is required for this install?? Thanks
swaping in a differant rear is by far the easier way to go. setting up gears isn't that hard but requires tools most people don't have. look in the drive train section of your manual and you'll get a good idea what's involved and the tools required. also ron terry has a pretty complete list of tools if you can find some of his old post.
Common hand tools, but some air impact tools would be better.
If you decide to swap rears make sure you get one from 1989 or later. Some will have the Alum PBR rear disc's. why not improve the brakes also.
