some rear end questions

hey everyone,
umm i came across a 10 bolt rearend that i wanna use, but when i measured it, its about 1in smaller than the stock rear, length wise i mean, would that make a huge difference or not?? just curious if i can use it...

Does it have a torque arm mount?

Without that, it doesn't matter what width it is; it won't work. With it, all you'd have to do is get wheels with a different offset.

However, it sounds like it's not out of a 3rd gen F car, or a 4th gen either; so it most likely won't work.

well i dont use a torque arm, i replaced it with the traction action lift bars from lakewood...but i figured out i wont be able to weld to that rear being cast iron and all, so not worth it thanks though

the rears aren't cast iron and even if they were that doesn't make them unweldable. why or what do you want to weld to it?

sorry sometime i need to clarify myself on when i explain stuff, the rear end i wanted to use is out of a 1970 nova, with leaf spring set up, but its a inch smaller than the 3rd gen rear, but i found another rear for 30 bucks so, and i know it will work so yea, thanks tho..
