How much can a stock 700R4 take?

Car: 1983 Trans Am
Engine: 355 SBC
Transmission: 700R-4
How much can a stock 700R4 take?
So how much hp/torque is a stock 700R4 supposed to be able to take??? One person told me they are pretty weak, another person told me they are good for up to 400 hp. I blew mine with my new 355 and 400 hp would be a nice number for me...

Transmission: Pro-Built 700r4 w/ 3400 converter
Axle/Gears: 10 bolt w/ 3.42 gears
Put it this way, if you even have to ask, its not gonna be enough for your application... :lala:
