Lockup time...

ok, so i swapped in a carbed 350 and kept my overdrive tranny, now the 4 prong switch is gone on the emc harness, but i need a way to wire something up so i can lock up the converter in 4th on the highways and during some runs, i heard it knockes off a tehnth or two...

Anyway, i heard about the connecting the f and a terminals to make it lock up, but i dont see a way that would work, since there is no other wiring runnin tot he tranny, so how is it gonna get the signal, i donno...

But i need a way how to wire it up using the 4 prong connector wires...if u can help me out, it would be highly appreciated....

I bought a TH400 plastic termanal to replace the existing 4 prong unit in the transmission. It is just a spaid termanal. I got power and brought it through the switch on the brake pedal and hooked it up to the new spaid termanal on the tranny. Inside the tranny I had to replace the N/C switch with a N/O switch. Inside the tranny I wired the termanal to the N/O switch, from the N/O switch I went to one of the wires on the solenoid and the other solenoid wire is grounded.

I haven't driven the car yet, but I am an electrician and I have read the schematics for the system and gotten help from others on this site, I do not see a problem wiring it up this way. This will lock the TC anytime the tranny is in 4rth gear.

If you want part #s for the switch and termanal I can look them up.
The cost for them was around $13.00.

EDIT: If your SOL has only one wire it doesn't need to have a negative connected to ground (obviously)

why not just get the painless kit that keeps the lockup on the tranny and allows you to ditch the comp? i know TCI makes one also, and its 40 bucks cheaper then the painless kit.
