you sure can. if your going to spend money on swaps, get the PBR setup that came on 89+ fbodies. don't waste your time/money with the 88 earlier cast iron ones. im in the process of the swap right now and im already glad i went with the PBR's.

talk to EbMiller88, hes got the parts and knowledge of the swap. i got all my parts from him. hes a good guy.

if you go from drum to disc you will need the backing plates, cradles, new e brake lines and new hard lines. you can flair your old hard lines, but new lines only run about 30 bucks. 40 for the polished stainless lines. your best bet is to find a 9 bolt since they are stronger then the stock 10 bolts. i had one laying in my gurage so i bought all the parts needed, including the PBR calipers and rotors, blasted the rear and por15d it. came out beautiful. i'm actually waiting for the gas tank to finish drying then i'm going to put that in, then bolt up the new rear and get the brakes strightened out.

like i said before, if you decide to do the swap, get the PBR calipers. they work better then the pre 89 setups and are easier and cheaper to come buy. the dealer wanted 300 a caliper for the old style where as the PBRs cost me 125 each.

So its not a hard installation for the backing plate, cradle, brake line and e brake line?

its all bolt ups. shouldn't be a problem at all. taking the axel out will be the hardest chore on your list for the swap.

The axel flange on a drum rear end is different from a disc rear end and as a consequence will require modification. For pics and parts, check the following thread (this swap was from the old style cast iron calipers to PBR's):
