Someone is going to sell me an IROC and a t-5 tranny for 500, I gotta go 125 miles to get it and he says the tranny only has 72k on it and i havent gotten pictures of the car yet. I want to put an lt1 in the car but i know nothing about if a tranny is good or not and i dont want to spend the money on this tranny if it isnt any good. Should i just go for this cause this is the best deal i can find for an IROC without anything let alone a t-5 thrown in. So what do you think

if the car is clean, it would be a good buy. plus, even if the t5 is junk, a rebuild doesnt cost as much, and you could prolly do it yourself

 

is the t5 much worse then the t56 or still a good buy for a car im gonna be putting some large sums of power in?

If you put big power through a T5 you will either have to be gentle or replace it because it wont take much of a beating with lots of power. You wont find an IROC with a t56 anyways though unless its been swapped in.
