Help! VSS / SGI-5 / T56 questions
Ok I have an 87 Iroc Z28 with the L98 motor running the stock ECM. I just installed a T56 from a 95 Trans Am, I am also installing the insturment cluster from the same 95 TA. I was told that the VSS from the T56 would run the speedo fine being that it was from the same car but that the ECM wont like this signal. My question is What ppm is the VSS in the T56, What ppm signal does the speedo need, and what ppm signal does the ECM need. I have the Dakota Digital SGI-5 and it looks like it should be pretty easy to setup, just not sure what out put to hook everything up too. I plan to run the VSS from the T56 to the SGI-5 and then have one wire go to the speedo, and another wire to the ECM.
Any help with this would be great. Thanks.

if im not mistaken (and i could be) i think the 95s gauge cluster speedo works off the same signal as the stock 3rdgen stuff.
the 95s ECM converts the signal for it.
if thats the case (and i THINK it is) then you just set the SGI5 box up normally (see my sticky at the top of the forum..) then send the signal to both the VSS pin on the ECM and to the new speedo.

jmd,
I did use the search, looked up VSS, T56, ppm,.... never would have thought to try revolution though.
MrDude,
Is there anyway to determine if that is true about the speedo? Or should I just try hooking it up and see what happens?
Anyways, thanks for the help

MrDude is right, hook the sgi5 between your vss and ecm, the stock 3rd gen ecm or buffer box outputs the same speedometer signal of 4000 pulse / mile that the LT1 pcm does.
